Typecast Clothing was born after we attended Spirit West Coast Del Mar in May of 2005. Walking the crowded aisles of the event's exhibition hall, we were met with the booths of dozens of Christian clothing companies. The idea for a retail shop that would house many of these brands-and the need for high-quality, well-designed Christian clothes-came up and we ran with it. Along the journey of establishing Typecast, we spoke with many individuals who were willing to share their own experiences with this industry. We are forever grateful for their kindness, information, and encouragement.
So just what does our name mean?
The word ‘typecast’ is often used to describe someone who is continually cast, or set, in a certain role. Let’s typecast ourselves for the positive when it comes to our beliefs and also our standards of design.
Our desire is to see that the items purchased at Typecast, and designed by Typecast, will spark conversations that may plant the seed of Hope and encouragement. There is definitely a stigma of what Christian clothing looks like, and our desire is to have clothing that is new and innovated. Typecast is all about artistically unique clothing for the punk, emo, rocker, indie, and black sheep amongst us all.
Typecast Clothing is owned and operated by a husband and wife team. In their twenties, Bobby and Jaime decided to open the clothing store to combine several of their passions-faith, fashion, and the youth community. A key element in the start-up of Typecast comes out of the unexpected loss of loved ones. Jaime's parents were killed in May of 2000. Although Paisan and Joyce Boonlorn did not see the fruition of this store, they helped lay the foundation of God's grace, support, and love for Typecast to make it into existence. We are forever missing them, but we rest in God's sovereignty.
